Business Profile: Wild Child Yoga

Hey friends! For this business profile we sat down with Meredith from Wild Child Yoga. We are excited to share her business with you!

What is your elevator pitch?
Yoga is now about being flexible. It is not about learning to touch your toes. It is about learning your way through yoga into something that allows you to feel beautiful, confident and love yourself. To me, yoga is empowerment.

It’s one thing to do yoga, why did you chose to make it a business?
I have bene doing yoga for 10 years. I was in an abusive relationship and I was an EMT. My mind was a wreck. I found myself on the mat. I learned to love myself from yoga. I wanted to create. space where people felt welcomed when they came through the door and be who they want to be on the mat. I want people to come in and see someone who looks like them, who can acknowledge where their limitations are at and not feel self conscious. I really want to the community together. I have made life long friendships and so have my clients. It was important to me to make a place that felt like home.

What’s something people might know about yoga or this studio?
This might seem out there but buildings have a way of telling their names. When I go into them I feel their energy. A voice told me “my name is Althea”. I responded that this place will be one of healing. When I got home I looked up the name Althea and sure enough it means, a place of healing. So it was always important to me. You can’t make this stuff up. This has been a healing place for me and lots of others.

What makes Yoga different from traditional exercise?
It teaches you about your breath. You get into cardio at times and if you don’t know how to breath and your cardio won’t be as good if you knew how to breath. Of all the things we consume, food, water, and oxygen, oxygen is the one that you can’t go long without. Breathing is the most beneficial thing you can put in your body. Learn to control it. Cardio is awesome but if you want to relax, calm the mind and shut down the brain and process, yoga is where you get release. It releases everything in your body that causes you grief.

What’s next for Wild Child Yoga and how can our community help you grow?
I would just like to see continued grow. People who have never tried our classes to come in and see how it works and see if you want to incorporate in your own practice. We also rent the studio space for birthday parties and bridal showers. I would love people to come in and have happy memories as well.

Anything else you would like to share?
I’m awesome and come see me!

YES, I love that!
