What makes a great location for photos? San Isabel Blog

One of the most asked questions for us is “Where would you recommend we take photos at”. After a series of questions we can usually recommend a few spots we really like to our families based on their needs.

Occasionally, we get a family that suggests a particular place they love to visit and ask us if it would be a great place to photograph. Sometimes it is a great place, other times it is not. Here is where the problem lies. Often times we have an emotional connection to a place. Maybe it is a street that your favorite restaurant is on, or maybe a local park you take your morning walks. You are connected to these places on a personal level. Sometimes the location itself is absolutely beautiful to the eyes, but to the cameras it is NOT the greatest spot. Maybe there is no shade, or the sun will always be in their face. Maybe there are bright walls along the path that have a weird color cast on the skin. Our eyes don’t pick these up but our cameras will.

One of our favorite places to take photos is San Isabel. There is so much to be said about this little area. You have tall trees, you have great shade but can quickly and easily find spots of sun. You have mountains, long roads with sweeping trees. You have a lake, a stream, some bridges. San Isabel makes the perfect nature backdrop for senior portraits, families, engagement, you name it. Our spots are even handicap friendly and most spots can be had just a few steps away from the car, ensuring that even older people or those less mobile, can enjoy this beautiful area.

Next time you are considering family portraits, you def want to consider San Isabel. Rain, shine, summer, winter, spring or fall. This area is bound to give you beautiful images.
