San Isabel Lake - A Day of Adventure
San Isabel is one of our favorite places. After all, it is where we got married back in 2012.
This wasn’t the initial plan though. We had planned on getting married in Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. About a week before the wedding day, Garden of the Gods caught on fire. Not a small fire, but a very large fire that consumed the area. The highways were shut down at times, firefighters from all over the state came to help. This of course meant that we couldn’t get married there. It also meant that we had to adjust and pivot our plans quickly to let all the family and friends know about the new idea.
Within the week we made announcements planned the new spot and on that amazing day we got married in San Isabel. On that dock we said our personal vows to each other, with our friends and family watching.
It all ended up working out for us. Since this day, that has been kind of the theme for our family. Make plans, things happen, we adjust and it always works out in the end.
Garden of the Gods will still be a special place to us, but San Isabel will be the place we said “I do”. We make several trips here each year to enjoy the area and we are often surprised by how beautiful the area is. It is now our special place. It is where we go to relax, where we go to photograph so many families and seniors during our years fall photo sessions. San Isabel is one of those places that you can visit often and it never gets old.
Head south on I25, turn right at the Colorado City/Rye exit and follow that all the way to the mountains. You can’t miss the lake.
